El altímetro muestra la altura a la cuál está volando el avión en pies. En altímetro hay dos agujas, la pequeña indica los miles de pies y la larga centenas de pies. Teniendo esto en cuenta, cuando la aguja pequeña se encuentre en los mil pies y la larga en los 300 pies, se vuela a 1300 pies. Algunos aviones tienen una aguja más que indica las décimas, pero la mayoría de aviones ligeros tienen dos agujas.

se manejan tres distancias verticales dentro del
espacio aéreo. Y estas son :
Altitud
Altura
Elevación.
Básicamente el altímetro nos indica la altitud.
El radio altímero nos indica la altura.
